Dare2b Sponsor the Mountain Bike World Cup

14/08/2008

You can practically taste the excitement in the Dare2b office as we announce the sponsorship of the Mountain Bike World Cup in Schladming Austria.

The meeting of the best mountain bikers in the world will take place from the 12th - 14th of September 2008 on the Planai and is bound to throw up some thrills and spills and no doubt some cracking action.

The event programme is pretty inclusive and not only gives the pro’s the chance to make us feel completely inferior but the public can also get on the track and give it a go themselves on the 5.5km km long original Worldcup track.

Dare2b will be sponsoring the Green Team (marshals) helping out on the track and you won’t be able to miss us at the event.

There’s too much going on for us to tell you about in one small news story. The clever folks who run the event have gone and done a site of their own. Check it out here

Dare2 listen to Minitel Rose

25/05/2008

Minitel Rose are an electro dance trio hailing from France. Quentin, Raphael & Romain, self-dubbed “Warrior Flash Dancers” make up the band, which formed 1 ½ years ago.

The name Minitel Rose comes from the French 80’s. It was the name of the French machine, which is the father or as Nicole would say…Papa, of the Internet. The Pink Minitel was a meeting site where people found love.

It’s exciting, heart in their throat times for Minitel Rose as their first album has hit the shops of France this spring and is called the French Machine and with the Minitel Rose songs being sung in English, it shouldn’t be long before the music hits the UK and US shores, markets they are keen to crack.

Their most popular songs include hits like ‘Continue’, ‘Better Days’ and ‘Magic Powder’ of which the video has recently been feature on the homepage of You Tube! Definitely worth a view, as it’s not normal!

With their fresh sound and ability to enjoy life with a cheeky twist (again, just watch the Magic Powder video), we here at Dare2b embrace their attitude and are proud supporters of the band providing them with sponsorship and free Dare2b kit. And may we say, as you can see from the picture, the guys look first-rate in their clobber!

Why not check out the My Space site for more information on the band, tour dates and their music…or just to have a damn good nosey.

You Win Some, You Lose Some But You Still Win With Dare2b

27/03/2008

We’re a generous bunch here at Dare2b. So when we run a competition we do it in style. As part of our involvement with the Metro Ski Show we ran a video clip competition for the Best Trick and Worst Wipeout. The winners of each category won an all expensed trip to Val d’Isere and got the chance to spend some time with members of the Dare2b Team.

Arran Busk, the winner of the Best Trick category has already made his trip out there and with current slope conditions had a terrific time boarding. For more photos of his time out there with Benjamin Baroni check out the Dare2bYou section of the site.

Dare2b Launch New Site Style!!

11/03/2008

Dare2b have launched a brand spanking, all-singing, all-dancing, new website. The new site still possesses all the solid features of the last site, including a product browsing facility, a news section, the old favourite competition page and perhaps most importantly stockist information.

However, this site also boasts other exciting new features including an interactive social networking page (Facebook esque), dare2byou, bringing all part-time and full-time adrenaline junkies together, in a place where they can share; videos and pictures they think are, cool, funny or just plain stupid that they feel that will brighten up other people’s days at work. Also in the “dare2byou” section the crew at Dare2b will be writing and posting regular personal blogs about anything and everything, whether one of us has nailed our 1st black slope or just have a funny real-life story that are aimed to provide a little light relief from the visitors “9-5 grind”!!

Visitors of the site can get involved by easily creating a profile, adding a picture of their choice to be their icon and they’re welcomed with open arms!!

And for those visitors who have a spare 5 minutes they can have a go on one of our featured games, “Mountain Bike” and “Snowboard XS” Just by clicking into the “play” section and they’re away!!

Take a look and jump on the bandwagon…

Who Ever Said That Size Matters?

06/03/2008

Dare2b sponsored Microlite flies over Kilimanjaro, breaking a world record.

Take one huge mountain, you may know it, its called Kilimanjaro, then add one tincy wincey Microlite plane and then put it together with 4 not so ordinary people and you have a world record attempt sponsored by adrenalin sports brand, Dare2b.

While the rest of us were planning whether to have Cranberry or bread sauce with our Christmas dinner last year, David Barker, a businessman from Cheshire and Mark Jackson, a flying instructor from Denton were busying planning their maverick world record attempt, which simply put could go fantastically right or terribly wrong.

David, age 64, yes that’s right 64 and Mark, age 41, are both keen pilots but felt that attempting such an endeavour required the help from Richard Meredith-Hardy. Richard (who must have balls of steel) had already successfully flown over Mount Everest and more importantly owned the pimped out Microlite they would need to complete their record attempt.

After the addition of another experienced and more importantly ‘light’ pilot (essential for such a venture), Eve Jackson, the crew began several attempts before hitting the jackpot. In order to reach the 24,000ft height needed to beat the current world record the crew had to make several changes to passengers and the amount of fuel and oxygen to take on board.
Eve and Mark were the record breakers in the end, (there’s only room for 2 in that tiny plane). Living the dream, 24,000 ft above Kilimanjaro on the 19th January in a plane no bigger than the average hatchback.

Here at Dare2b we are proud to have been a part of such an exciting adventure and are just glad we’re not taking about them all in past tense! All came home safe and sound with 10 fingers and 10 toes, we know because we checked for insurance purposes.

Take a look at how they got on at http://www.flymicro.com/kilimanjaro/index.cfm
